Beltway Boys Join Republican Chorus
Reported by Deborah - September 10, 2005
The Beltway Boys joined the Republican chorus tonight defending the Bush Administration and attacking the Democrats for the "blame game" The only surprise was Fred Barnes admitting that Bush was "a little slow" reacting to this situation just like he was a little slow reacting to 9/11. 9/10/05
Barnes said that Mike Brown has become the poster boy adding that if he had worked with Guiliani and Jeb Bush instead of Nagin and Blanco this wouldn't have been such a fiasco.
Barnes and Kondaracke agreed that Bush took a "political hit" mentioning the 40% approval from Gallup. However, they were optimistic that he would bounce right back. They mentioned a few other incidents where Bush appeared to take a hit but recovered.
Barnes accused Democrats of "breathtaking hypocrisy" that divided the nation adding that it's up to Bush to bring unity. He was annoyed that the Democrats want him to abandon plans for more tax cuts acting as if that was unreasonable,
Kondaracke had mild praise for Bill Clinton's fund raising adding,
"Unfortunatly, his wife wants to rip FEMA out of Homeland Security."
comment: So there were no real surprises tonight from the Boys.Their laid back conversation about Bush bouncing back had an artificial quality. Even the steadfast Beltway Boys know that's not going to happen.
