Thoughtless Comment On Fox & Friends

Reported by Deborah - September 8, 2005

This morning,9/8/05, the folks on Fox and Friends were talking about the people in New Orleans who want to stay. E.D. Hill made this thoughtless comment during a report about a woman who was arrested because she refused to leave her home.

"Who would want to stay other than people who are looting."

It turns out that this poor woman had two dogs that she didn't want to leave to die alone. The report indicated that she was arrested because she had a handgun for protection but this charge was later dropped.

comment: This poor woman had no intention of "looting". She just wanted to stay in familiar surroundings with her pets. If someone would acknowledge that people will not abandon their pets and make it easy for them to bring them along, this final evacuation would go more smoothly. Yes, I know it would be a hassle but so what. These U.S. Citizens have lost everything so why are the authorities acting as if their pets are not important. I couldn't leave my 12 year old Boston Terrier who is nearly blind and totally dependant on me and how dare anyone say that a beloved pet's life must be sacrificed to maintain order. I know that there are some wonderful organizations who are doing what they can. However, why don't they allow the people to evacuate with their pets and work something out with a shelter later on.

E.D. Hill should be ashamed of herself. I wonder if she would want to be herded off from familiar surroundings and loaded on a bus to some unknown location. Oh, I forgot. That would never happen to people like Hill who have enough money to buy a new life.
