Hannity and Coulter Extol New Iraqi Constitution. Too Bad There Isn't One.

Reported by Ellen - August 26, 2005

Last night, on Hannity & Colmes, Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter pointed to the "new Iraqi Constitution" as proof that the war in Iraq is going well. Too bad these two highly-paid pundits didn't seem to be up enough on their current affairs to know that there is no new Constitution.

Sean Hannity said to Ann Coulter, who nodded her head as he spoke, "We have an Iraqi constitution now and it's pretty interesting because... it has an extensive bill of rights, individual protections for all individuals. It has freedom of speech rights, freedom of religion rights... Why don't we ever hear about what a historic moment has taken place this week?"

Comment: Um, maybe because it hasn't happened? And maybe because some people, the ones who know the constitution has not been finalized, have a lot of serious concerns about what's in the constitution and whether or not it will ever be adopted.

But Coulter didn't seem to know that. She answered, "You're right about that. I mean there's a lot of good news... We have an election in Iraq, we have a constitution in Iraq... This war is going by historic standards, amazingly well."
