Haroon Aswat - Part II

Today (7/29) on Dayside, Mike Jerrick spent the entire episode discussing the recent arrests that have been made in the London bombing investigation. He interviewed counter-terrorism analyst Daveed Gartenstein-Rosee, and Jerrick brought up Haroon Aswan, the mastermind behind the bombings.
Jerrick stated: "Apparently, we've kind of been on the look out for this guy since 1999 when he went up to Bly, OR to set up a training camp."
Comments: Wrong again Mr. Jerrick! According to the Seattle Times, the United States knew precisely where Aswat was for a period of time in 2000, when he was living in a mosque in Seattle. Unfortunately, the United States Justice Department blocked attempts by Washington State federal prosecutors to obtain an indictment for his arrest. Jerrick gets his facts wrong once again, which allowed the viewer to believe that we simply missed Aswat, rather than letting him go.
