Prudish media censoring Bush's nickname for Rove
Reported by Chrish - July 27, 2005
It's common knowledge that Bush comes up with some juvenile nicknames for his professional associates. His pet name for senior advisor and CIA-ops buster Karl Rove is "Turd Blossom", supposedly a Texas reference to a flower which blooms from cow pies. (That's excrement, for the city folks.)
According to a ticker across the bottom of Fox News and confirmed in Editor and Publisher, some papers will pull tomorrow's "Doonesbury" strip because of use of the name in the last panel. Others will edit the "offending" nickname out.
Comment: How ironic that the prudish sensibilities we all must get used to not offending in this new world order are offended by a nickname bestowed by their vaunted leader, "Honor and Dignity" Bush.
Really, how many people who read Doonesbury (and get it) would be offended by such a childish term? The censorship is creeping in at an alarming rate.
