O'Reilly and Morris Downgrade Rove Story
Reported by Deborah - July 18, 2005
Both O'Reilly and Dick Morris claimed tonight that people really don't care about the Rove investigation. No longer able to talk about the facts because they're too incriminating, Republicans are using other tactics like blaming Democrats; discrediting the Wilsons and diminishing the importance of the issue. Morris even found a way to make the Rove scandal a good thing for Bush.
O'Reilly open the segment with the Fox Clintonian Scholar by asking ,
"When does it become too much? Folks don't care."
Morris, Fox all purpose expert, had his answer ready.
" Nobody cares about this story. Rove is now an unwilling lightening rod. There needs to be a certain amount of Bush blood on the table everyday."
Then predictably, Morris illustrated his point with a little Clinton fable about how he advised Bill Clinton not be upset when Hillary was attacked because it was good that someone else took the blame.
At this point, they shifted to Hillary and dropped Rove totally. Morris praised Bush, bashed Hillary and even threw in a pinch of Monica for old times sake and that was that.
