Miss USA Tells Us Why Gitmo is "So Great"
Reported by Melanie - July 1, 2005
Chelsea Cooley, Miss USA, was a guest today (July 1, 2005) on Fox's premiere "business news" show, Your World w/Neil Cavuto. Cooley "flew in" last night after a trip to Gitmo to "bring a little bit of home to the soldiers and their families" and to "boost morale." She said, "It was so great there. They have such a wonderful community. It was so nice being able to meet with the troops and the families and the children and to see what Gitmo is really all about." [Emphasis added.]
Cavuto wondered whether she "got to see the prison at Gitmo or just the outside or what"? Cooley said she "toured around the base and saw a lot of things like that. It looks like any other prison that you would see here in the US."
Comment: When I saw the promo, I wondered what the heck Miss USA was doing on a "business news" show. Providing some of Cavuto's famous T&A? Then I remembered that Your World isn't a business news show. And then I knew why Cooley came on. She was there to tell Fox's audience what "Gitmo is really about." That it's about "families and children" and "wonderful" communities. My God. The segment should have been titled "Fantasy Island."
