In Debt, Broke & Anxious? Blame the Media (Fox's Answer to Everything)
Reported by Melanie - June 29, 2005
Today (June 29, 2005), on Your World w/Neil Cavuto, Cavuto hosted a segment titled "Behind the Numbers." The segment was based on a new survey which shows that 58% of Americans believe that the economy is getting worse. The guests were Steve Forbes, of Forbes, Inc. and Michelle Girard of Greenwich Capital Investments. Cavuto opened the discussion claiming that "Perception is everything," and the three of them discussed bonds, interest rates, whether or not there is a housing "bubble," spread sheets, how "personal incomes are rising," and generally what great shape the economy is in. Sprinkled over the happy talk were two remarks Cavuto made about how the economy is "negatively portrayed in the media."
Comment: Okay. Yahoo, yowza! I think I get it. If I'm living from paycheck to paycheck, afraid of being laid off, worried about health care, the price of gasoline, retirement, or not being able to save any money (etc.), my problem is "the media," right? Yahoo, yowza again! I had no idea it was that simple. Thanks Neil!
