Hannity Rejects New Hillary Clinton Book

Reported by Deborah - June 22, 2005

In the past,Ed Klein's smear book about Hillary Clinton probably would be cause for Hannity to celebrate. Clinton bashing has always been his favorite activity and he has condoned and participated in some pretty outlandish attacks on Bill and Hillary until last night when Klein came on H&C to plug The Truth About Hillary. Hannity thought the book's personal attacks about sensitive issues were not acceptable. Witnessing Hannity defend Hillary Clinton's privacy was an unexpected experience.

Klein's book has some conflicting and unsubstantiated allegations about Senator Clinton's sex life. There are hints that she's gay, asexual and an adulteress and a claim that she was raped by her husband in Bermuda resulting in the conception of Chelsea.

Hannity told Klein that he thought that Hillary Clinton's sexuality was a private issue adding that the rape allegation was especially unkind to Chelsea. Hannity stressed that his political disagreements with Clinton are vast but he thought this type of attack was out of line.

There seems to be a mixed reaction on the Right to Klein's book. Rush Limbaugh has said that it could create a backlash of sympathy for Clinton increasing her popularity. It's also interesting that the review in Murdoch's New York Post was not good considering the emerging repect between Rupert and Hillary.Of course, we also can't forget the new friendship growing between Bush and Clinton.

comment; Naturally I agree with Hannity's response last night and I must say that he behaved like a mature professional in this one instance. (I imagine that some readers will turn on me violently now calling for my resignation and declaring me a traitor.)

However, I doubt that Hannity suddenly developed a concience about hurting the Clintons unfairly. I have witnessed Hannity and Dick Morris accusing Hillary of some pretty outrageous things and their bashes were very mean spirited. Then I have watched Hannity sit on the side smiling while Ann Coulter called Bill Clinton a "rapist" and that was one of the kinder comments. So right now, I have no illusions about Hannity's motives or Hannity.
