Fox - Bush Does Flip Flop on Gitmo Prisoners
Reported by Donna - June 20, 2005
Today on Studio B, Shepard Smith announced that President Bush was now going to follow the Geneva Convention in regards to the prisoners at Guantanamo Bay.
Smith stated that 'at one point they said the Geneva Convention did not apply there' but 'now the president says they will follow the Geneva Conventions' despite the fact that torture and any coerced testimony is not allowed. (Comment: Flip Flop)
He went on to say that the president was inviting journalists to go down to Guantanamo Bay.
A video clip was shown of the President meeting with EU leaders and saying that he was just waiting on our judicial system. Our judicial system would have to decide if they would be tried at a military court or a civilian court.
Comment: Hasn't the administration been screaming for months that the Geneva Convention didn't apply to these prisoners? All of a sudden, it will? I'd say that's a classic flip flop, especially when Fox, themselves, admit it. I like how the president invited the journalists down there. Why now? Is it all spic and span now? Why weren't they allowed down for 3 years?
