Fox Actually Covers a Protest Demonstration - Against Gay Rights, That Is
We all remember the huge anti-war demonstrations that the press ignored, right? We all remember a "march on Washington" that got little or no coverage, right? Well, Fox News actually devoted some serious time today to covering a demonstration!
A lay Catholic group in Spain organized a demonstration to protest the Spanish government's plan to legalize gay marriage and give same-sex couples the same rights as heterosexual ones, including the right to adopt children. Surprise, surprise! Fox was there. Amy Kellogg, the Fox reporter most often seen reporting from Israel, gave several live, upbeat reports directly from the scene while the camera panned the crowd so everyone could see how big it was.
Comment: Today at least, Fox News loves Europe and the Spanish voters it loves to hate. Above all, Fox is lovin' those protesters! As protesting goes, protesting the "right" issue appears to be the key to getting any significant airtime on Fox.
Reported by Melanie at June 18, 2005 06:40 PM | TrackBackWell, since AFP reported that there was a concert and counter-demonstration attended by up to 300,000 people nearby, I wonder if Fox just couldn't make it over to report the other side of things. . . not that this failure would be any surprise.

Damn those gays and their agenda.
Just what is their agenda, anyway? I keep hearing they have one, but no one will tell me what the agenda is.
Are they going to kill all heterosexuals, because I don't think that that would be entirely productive.

Oh, no, Paul! Did you not get the memo? Because I totally got the memo on the agenda.
We meet tonight, to try to do what we do every night....try to take over the world!
(I may not be gay, but I *have* been conscripted into the agenda...baw ha ha ha ha!)

Now now, providing equal coverage to a counter-rally wouldn't be fair OR balanced. Besides, they probably mentioned it somewhere, maybe on the website, or as a blurb on the ticker, so it can be pointed to as evidence of good reporting practices.

I keep on telling people that I'm a lesbian. I mean I DO like women, and my hair is very short (actually its shaved right now). But they won't let me in the club because of my Y chromosome. Oh well.
But I'm sure that I'll find out that pesky agenda one of these days.
