Neil Cavuto's Spin Borders on the Pathological

Reported by Melanie - June 16, 2005

Talk show hosts Nancy Skinner and Mike Gallagher were guests today (June 16, 2005) during the first segment of Your World w/Neil Cavuto. The topic was Hillary Clinton. (Fox advertises this show as it's "premiere business news" program, the "most watched business news show on the plant." One might reasonably expect, therefore, that the first segment would be about the stock market and Wall Street, right? Hello!)

Cavuto, Skinner and Gallagher debated whether Hillary Clinton is "using" Republicans to "moderate her image," and whether Republicans need her more than she needs them.

The thing that killed me was Cavuto's introductory line: "Main street and Wall Street are watching this very closely."

Comment: Cavuto, that's bullsi*t. It's absolute, unadulterated bullsi*t. I know you pretend your show is about "business news," but your spin today about Wall Street watching this "very closely" is a bunch of crap. You and your neo-con friends might be watching "Hill" closely, but Wall Street isn't.

I challenge anyone and everyone to search the financial websites - Forbes, BusinessWeek, Financial Times, Bloomberg. Show me, and readers here, any article, one article, anything, that talks about how Wall Street's "watching this very closely." They ain't here.
