Alan Colmes Reads Names Of Soldiers Killed Each Week
Reported by Ellen - June 14, 2005
Last week, Alan Colmes started a new weekly feature of reading the names of the coalition forces killed in Iraq the week before.
Saying that "I think it's important because we don't pay enough attention, in my view, to the true sacrifices being made daily in Iraq," he announced that during the week of June 6-12, 24 men and women from the coalition died in Iraq, for a total of 1887 coalition deaths since the start of the Iraq war. He read the names and hometowns of those available.
Comment: I meant to post about this last week but never got around to it. However, I think this is a great thing he's doing that should be applauded. Right now, on the homepage of FOXNews.com, there is this Breaking News: "Report: Kirkuk Bombing Kills Eighteen, Wounds 53." But the pictures splashed across the top are all about Michael Jackson. Big Story was pre-empted today because of the Michael Jackson verdict. Think it will be pre-empted tomorrow because of the deaths in Iraq? Only if Natalee Holloway is there.
Thank you, Alan.
