Ah Yes, There are Many Ways to Promote Bush
Reported by Melanie - June 12, 2005
At 4:10 p.m. ET Friday (June 10, 2005), during Your World w/Neil Cavuto and as Cavuto headed to a break, Fox aired video of Bush. The top of the screen read, "Coming up," and a banner at the bottom of the screen read, "Patriot Bush." At 4:19 p.m. ET, Fox aired another shot of Bush. At the top of the screen were the words, "Coming up," and at the bottom, a banner reading: "The Fight at Home."
At 4:40 p.m. ET, in a routine "news break," Fox aired a six second clip of Bush speaking that morning as he announced the nomination of Retired Vice Admiral John S. Redd as director of the National Counter-terrorism Center. Fox aired the portion of Bush's speech in which Bush said we should "renew all the provisions of the Patriot Act" and make those "provisions permanent."
Comment: At the end of the show I was going to post that Fox aired the two promos without ever getting to whatever it was promoting. However, when I reviewed the tape, I realized that those two promos were for that six second clip of Bush. Two promos for a six second clip? I say the two promos were an excuse to promote Bush, as a patriot and a fighter (after all, his poll numbers aren't very good right now).
