Clinton & Woodward UP- Felt & Star Wars DOWN
Reported by Deborah - June 4, 2005
In their ups and downs segment, Kondaracke and Barnes gave Bob Woodward an UP arrow for his reporting of Watergate. Kondaracke said Woodward's responsibility was to get the information out to the public. Barnes declared Mark Felt dishonorable and neither mentioned Carl Bernstien at all as if he had nothing to do with Watergate
Bill Clinton was also an UP and both Barnes and Kondaracke praised him for his work as an exPresident. Of course the relationship between Clinton and Bush Sr. was mentioned along with some comments about Clinton's advice being ignored by leftist Democrats. Kondaracke mentioned that Clinton was trying to become Secretary General of the UN and Barnes replied "We could do worse."
The DOWN went to the new Star Wars movie.Kondaracke declared it politically offensive complaining that George Lucas thinks that George Bush is undermining democracy. Then he actually referred to the Hollywood Elite who he claimed really want Jedi Knights as leaders.
comment: Very interesting that Woodward gets credit for exposing the truth after so many journalists trying to do their jobs now are ruined not rewarded. Naturally, Mark Felt could not be given any credit. Republicans do not want to encourage any whistle blowers.
I honestly can't figure out why Bernstein was so obviously snubbed but it was pretty blatant.
