Qu'aran abuse at Gitmo confirmed, Newsweek vindicated

Reported by Chrish - June 3, 2005

Channel-surfing Friday night I happened on a report on MSNBC (8:11pm ET) which said that the Pentagon had, about an hour earlier, released a report confirming abuse of the Muslim holy book at the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay. I found the timing of the release to be typical - bury an unflattering story on Friday night and by Monday it's old news. I flipped over to Fox News to see if they were covering it live, as they claim to be 24/7/365.

Unfortunately instead I got an earful of Bill O'Reilly questioning the patriotism of a woman who would not encourage her high-school age son to enlist. (It was delightful, however, to hear the big BOR* say to her that Iraq has nothing to do with 9/11).

I decided to wait for an announcement. Very important news, maybe it would even merit a Fox News Alert!

Uma Pemmaraju came and went without announcing it and before I knew it I was in Vegas with Sean Hannity. At 9:23ET the big SH** had on Matt Drudge, ostensibly to rebut a video of the estimable Bill Moyers but actually to crow about Drudge's timely posting of the Pentagon release on his website. Hannity revealed he had checked the website before coming on... good to know where he does his research.

I will leave the rest of the posting and observations about the show to Deb...just wanted to note that time lapse.
