Bush says Great Progress in Iraq Amidst 46 Dead ,150 Injured
Reported by Donna - May 23, 2005
Last week it was reported on Studio B with Shepard Smith that there had been 25 car bombings in Iraq all of last year. Last week they also said that there had been 22 so far this year.
Well, I haven't seen Studio B since last Thursday, but today they were reporting 6 car bombings in the last 24 hours with at least 46 dead and 150 injured. Seems we have far surpassed last years mark already.
What does our president have to say about this?
President Bush held a news conference today with the Afghan President. Bret Bair, reporting from the Pentagon, said that President Bush was asked 'with all of the increase in car bombings and assasinations, what was the state of the insurgency in Iraq.'
The president replied (paraphrased) "I think they're being defeated and that's why they continue to fight. The worst thing for them is to see democracy. (The Afghanistan President) can speak to that first hand. The worst problem that an idealogue that uses terror to try and get their way is to see a free society emerge. And, um....uh...we're making great progress in Iraq."
Comment: Yup, sounds like progress to me. When you're being defeated, don't you sort of 'be defeated'? And why does Fox have to have a 'positive' video clip on the president on something that is tragic and horrific? Are Fox viewers that dumb?
