Kingdom of Heaven Replaces The Passion

Reported by Deborah - May 5, 2005

Ridley Scott plugged his new film, Kingdom of Heaven, on H&C tonight. The movie is about the Crusades and there have been reports that Scott has recieved death threats from radical Islamic organizations. Hannity was anxious to stir things up questioning Scott about negative responses from Islamic and Christian groups.

Scott firmly denied the threats and refused to fuel the rumors of controversy surrounding the film. Scott told Hannity that it was just a movie expressing confidence that everyone who sees it will find it even handed.

Hannity brought up The Passion making a definite tie in viewers minds between the two films. It was clear that Hannity wanted to paint the movie as a lightening rod for extremist groups but he hadn't seen it and was limited.

comment: It's easy to predict that this film will be a new hot button issue on Fox pitting Muslims against Christians.Once the film is released and the talking points are written, Hannity will latch on to the story and milk it to death. Right now the H&C producers are lining up guests from Islamic Organizations to bad mouth the movie and Bill Donahue is practicing his chest pounding.
