War? What War? Let's Talk About Missing White Girls

Reported by Ellen - May 1, 2005

Yesterday, insurgents launched several attacks across Iraq as part of what AP called "a wave of violence" in a story on FOXNews.com. In another FOXNews.com report, an airstrike in Afghanistan on a "suspected insurgent camp" killed three civilians and caused an anti-American demonstration which "underscored President Hamid Karzai's challenge to bring stability to the nation." But the top story during the news break before After Hours with Cal Thomas was, "The runaway bride is back in Georgia... Other passengers on her flight described what it was like having her on board." We got the scoop from a man who sat one row behind her.

That was followed by details about penalties for steroids in baseball, a former football coach (Republican) running for governor of Nebraska, the White House correspondents dinner where "some say" First Lady Laura Bush stole the show, then a promise of more headlines later.

Not a word about Iraq or Afghanistan.
