FOXNews.com Headline: DeLay Should Step Down

Reported by Ellen - April 10, 2005

I suspect Karl Rove has decided it's time for the ethically-challenged House Majority Leader Tom DeLay to go or FOX News wouldn't be saying it's so, at least not in the headlines. FOX has largely ignored the multitudinous DeLay scandals, usually painting them as partisan politics when the network bothered to cover it at all (see, e.g., my post Five Minutes for Michael Jackson, Zero Time for Tom DeLay). But right now there's a big headline on the FOX News homepage saying, "GOP Pressures DeLaySenate leader calls on majority leader to explain his actions, one congressman wants his resignation."

The link leads to an AP article titled, Shays: DeLay Should Step Down. It begins:

Private GOP tensions over Tom DeLay's ethics controversy spilled into public Sunday, as a Senate leader called on DeLay to explain his actions and one House Republican demanded the majority leader's resignation.

I predict he'll step down as Majority Leader.
