Hannity's Problem With Free Speech
Reported by Deborah - April 9, 2005
It was Jim Jeffords' turn last night on H&C to be verbally lynched by Hannity for speaking his mind on Vermont Public Radio. Hannity's lynching buddy was male Coulter clone, Neal Boortz. All puffed up with self righteous outrage, Hannity and Boortz expected to easily discredit and humiliate Jeffords until Kirsten Powers and Colmes fought back with simple truth. Hannity was defeated totally when Powers asked, " Why do you have such a problem with free speech?"

Here is what Jim Jeffords, Vermont Independant, said on VPR.
"I think it was all done to get oil," Jeffords said of invading Iraq. "And the loss of life that we had, and the cost of it, was to me just a re-election move, and they're going to try to live off it. Probably start another war, wouldn't be surprised, next year. Probably in Iran."
"I probably shouldn't even talk on it, I just feel so bitter about the thinking that's gone on behind them, and the reasons they go to war and went to war," Jeffords replied. "But I feel very strongly that they are looking ahead, and that there will be an opportunity to go into Iran and try to get their son elected president. I don't know, but you do it each time they (are) going to have a new president. I'm very, very (Jeffords chuckles). Oh, well, I better be quiet."
Hannity responded with his usual attacks calling Jeffords comments irresponsible and damaging to the troops and then challenging Kirsten Powers to condemn Jeffords. In the past this technique often intimidated the Democrats but Powers was firm in her support of Jeffords making Hannity look foolish.
Colmes then nailed Boortz asking him what happened to the 50 to 100 million dollar oil revenue that was supposed to finance the war. Boortz had no answer so he made some snide meaningless comment.
Accusing Colmes of not supporting Iraqi Democracy he taunted,
"I share your pain. You must get up in the middle of the night.Drat it works."
After Colmes and Powers talked about Bush's record breaking low poll numbers and Powers asked Hannity about his free speech problems, the lynching buddies were whipped. Forced to fall back on smearing Al Gore, European types and Hillary Clinton, viewers could feel their pain for a change.
