Another Memogate?
Reported by Deborah - March 24, 2005
Bill Bennett, on Hannity & Colmes tonight, commented on the GOP Talking Points Memo that recently surfaced which listed the political advantages of Republican involvement in the Terri Schiavo case.
" It was planted by a fraud or an idiot."
Bennett added that since the memo had no signature or letterhead it could not be considered real.

Earlier in the week when Tom Delay was confronted by this memo on ABC, he was outraged and denied any knowledge of it. Tonight Colmes asked Bennett about DeLays comment dismissing the importance of Michael Schiavo's wishes which seems to contradict the conservative ideal of preserving marriage.
"I don't care what her husband says! " Delay said on the Senate floor.
Bennett quickly jumped to Delay's defense proclaiming his respect for him adding,"We don't care about preserving marriages like that. That's not a good marriage."
Bennett actually expressed concern that the polls showed that 80 percent did not support the legislative involvement in the case.
comment: If Republicans think this memo can be spun to draw needed support, we can probably expect a new memogate scandal in our near future. That would be worth a couple weeks of diversion. The fact that Bob Bennett actually mentioned the negative polling numbers is a sign that Republicans are planning a big push to save themselves in 2006.
