The DaVinci Code Boycott

Reported by Deborah - March 19, 2005

Now that the Passion Of The Christ is no longer a hot issue, William Donahue has found a new crusade. He appeared on Heartland tonight to tell viewers that if they think Dan Brown's DaVinci Code is real history, they've been raped.

The DaVinci Code by Dan Brown has been on and off the best seller list for a few years now. Brown has made it quite clear that his book was not an historical text but it does offer some compelling possibilities that people have enjoyed exploring.

William Donahue, after all this time, has decided that this book is attacking the Catholic Church. Donahue went off on his prepared message that sounded similar to his Passion pitch from a year ago.

"It's convenient to attack the Church. Why is there a growing sense to attack Christians? Can't even celebrate Christmas. There's censorship for traditional values."

Donahue said he's urging Ron Howard to put a disclaimer at the start of the film version or there will be a boycott.

comment: Is anyone actually taking his nonsense seriously? Unfortunatly, it's the fanatics like William Donahue who have turned this nation upside down with their toxic and irrational rhetoric and paranoia.
