Nevada's Jim Gibbons - a Republican unoriginal

Reported by Chrish - March 5, 2005

On Special Report's Grapevine segment 3/4, Jim Angle discloses that "NV Republican Jim Gibbons was standing by his condemnation of 'tree-hugging Birkenstock-wearing hippie tie-dyed liberals', but it turns out those remarks weren't even his. They were lifted from a speech by Alabama State Auditor Beth Chapman. A full 3/4 of Gibbons' address was taken from Chapman's speech, a fact that he neglected to tell his audience. Gibbons said he had received the remarks in an email and if he had known who wrote them he would have credited her. Meanwhile, Chapman says that she is flattered that Gibbons used her speech."

Comment: As they like to say on Fox, where's the outrage? Always try to imagine what Fox would be saying if it was a Democrat caught in the same situation...they'd be calling for his resignation. And it's too bad that Ms. Chapman is flattered at being plagiarized and having her words used without permission or attribution. She should stand up for herself and demand an apology.

PS Someone needs to tell those uptight wingtip-wearing monochromatic repressives that "tree-hugging Birkenstock-wearing hippie tie-dyed liberals" is not insulting to tree-hugging Birkenstock-wearing hippie tie-dyed liberals.
