RNC-TV. Fox News Isn't Pretending Anymore
Reported by Melanie - March 1, 2005
On February 25, 2005, my esteemed colleague, Nancy, published a post titled: Gotcha! In Gotcha!, Nancy documented Fox News host Brigitte Quinn shilling rather blatantly for the RNC. Today on Your World w/Neil Cavuto, Cavuto did the same.
James Glassman was a guest in a segment which Cavuto touted early in the show as being about lengthening life spans, but which quickly turned to promoting Social Security privatization. (Glassman is a fellow at the ultra-conservative American Enterprise Institute, he is the host of a conservative website called Tech Central Station, and, if that isn't enough, he founded a group called Investors Action. He recently wrote an article titled: A Nation of Citizen Investors. If you wonder why the right is pushing the Social Security issue, the article will explain it all.)
At one point in their discussion, Glassman said that young people want the Social Security changes but older people do not. He said "we've got to do a better job explaining it," and there has to be a "good deal more education." Cavuto responded: "I absolutely agree with you. We're not, you're not, you're right, we're not getting the word out." (Emphasis added.)
Comment: There you have it. "We," as in the RNC. "We," as in Fox News. We, as in RNC-TV. State television has arrived in the United States folks.
