Iraq - Just a Passing Disagreement?
Reported by Ellen - February 21, 2005
On Studio B with Sheppard Smith today we heard various stories, i.e., the rain in California, the horse that fell into the pool of ice, Paris Hilton's cell phone got hacked, the usual.
But after a few stories Smith went to Wendall Goler, who is covering the president's trip in Europe. Wendall Goler was reporting from Brussels and started his report with the following statement, "The President called the US/European differences over the war in Iraq, just a 'passing disagreement'."
They panned to pictures of Bush and Chirac and Chirac kept his face straight ahead while Bush kept looking at Chirac. Goler said that Bush and Chirac had 'smiles for the cameras, but not for each other'.
Goller went on to add that Chirac said these differences would not affect future relations.
Comment: My mouth dropped when Wendall Goler said that President Bush said that the US/European differences over the war in Iraq were 'just a passing disagreement'. I couldn't help thinking that the war was more than a 'passing disagreement' for a whole lot of Iraqi's and American soldiers and their families.
Was it just a poor 'choice' of words? Why would Fox report it in this way?
