The Hunt for Bin Laden

Reported by Ellen - February 18, 2005

Dark, melodramatic music with drums fills the air as the banner fills the television screen with the words, 'THE HUNT FOR BIN LADEN'. Pictures of Bin Laden are shown in the background. Also, a brief picture of a soldier lying down on the ground with his gun poised for action.

Well, I thought - hmmmm this is interesting - something new, what has happened, are there new clue's as to where Bin Laden is?

Nope. Shepard Smith on Studio B today did a story that the Top Pakistani General (Smith doesn't give his name)says he 'doubts' that Bin Laden is 'hiding' in the mountains on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. The General says it's more 'likely' that he's in a city. He said it just 'doesn't make sense' for him to be in the mountains because they are filled with Pakistani and Coalition troops.

Comment: I really thought that something new had transpired, but it was just Fox's way of telling us that there 'actually' IS a kinda - sorta hunt for Bin Laden. Well, someone has to, Bush doesn't 'care' where he is. Ok, if he's not in the mountains - what city might he be in? This whole story served no purpose, only delivering a kind of 'guess' from the Pakistani General. I'm sure it wasn't a comfort for the 9/11 families to hear that they have no idea where he is. But Fox has to remind us that 'someone' may be looking for him using all the theatrical music and the big banner headline. Doesn't sound like anyone's looking for him, but we'll let you decide.
