The Sex Story We'd Like to See On FOX News

Reported by Ellen - February 16, 2005

I got home tonight just in time to catch the last few minutes of Hannity & Colmes. There were the guys, along with two women, debating the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue - has it gone too far? Not surprisingly, viewers were treated to lots of sample photos. All for the sake of the debate, of course.

From there, it was on to Alan Colmes' FOX News radio program with a segment described on the FOX News website thusly: An up-front advertising plan on her cleavage lands swimsuit model, Shaune Bagwell a treasure chest of money. She exposes the whole deal to Alan tonight!

After the interview, Alan wondered why his callers supported Bagwell in her endeavor to sell her cleavage on EBay but trashed the Godaddy broken-strap woman from last week (Maybe because Bagwell had a personality?). So with all this interest in sex lately, I thought I'd nominate a story about a fake reporter with a fake name who secretly hosts a gay escort website, posts pornographic photos of himself on the web, obtains a press pass under the fake name, throws softball, Republican-partisan fake-press questions at the president and is also involved in the outing of CIA agent Valerie Plame.

The Jeff Gannon a/k/a James Dale Guckert story would seem tailor-made for Michael Jackson/Scott Peterson/Sex-crazed teachers-obsessed FOX. Wouldn't this be a perfect story for Sean Hannity or some other FOX News host to harangue some hapless strategist over? An excellent vehicle for Alan Colmes to discuss issues of privacy and freedom of the press? The Washington Post is covering it. Why haven't we seen it on FOX?

Just asking.
