Message To Christian Democrats

Reported by Deborah - February 13, 2005

Bob Jones, right wing founder of Bob Jones University, visited John Kasich to announce his retirement.Kasich in an apologetic fashion asked Jones about a controversial letter he wrote to President Bush in November after the election quoting this statement from the letter.

"You owe the liberals nothing. They despise you and they despise your Christ."

Bob Jones, without blinking an eye, embraced and defended his statement with zeal.

Jones believes that a true Christian must adhere to the commandments
strictly. Therefore, anyone with an inclusive attitude toward homosexuality is not a true Christian and abortion is murder no matter what the situation.

Kasich, to his credit, openly disagreed with Jones saying that he has many friends who are both good people and Christians with a more flexible attitude. Jones was not moved by Kasich's points maintaining a rigid position that unless one adheres to the bible, they can not love Jesus Christ therefore Democrats are not Christians.

Kasich asked Jones about the students in his University where music, dance and inter racial dating is forbidden. Jones said that they are sheltered and it's like a breath of fresh air because the students are so wholesome adding that it's like going back to another era.

Comments: Hopefully, Fox will continue having people like Falwell and Jones spounting off about this exclusionary and hate filled version of Christianity.Maybe people will wake up.
It's time for us to embrace and support the true Christian values that call for inclusion, love and understanding. Let's stop this push back to an era which I remember as very bleak, repressive and unforgiving. Let's evolve and allow our religions to evolve too.
