Now It's Saddam Not Al Zarqawi
Reported by Deborah - January 30, 2005
Brett Baier reported that senior officials at the Pentagon now claim that Zarqawi is actually small although he has been granted " rock star status". Baier continued that thousands of documents just now translated reveal that Saddam Hussein planned the insurgency not Zarqawi. 1/30/05 3:20PM
The senior officials claim that Saddam planned the insurgency in 2002 and in Saddams last meeting he said to resist for one week and then he would take over. Now that statement adds more credibility to the case that the insurgency was Saddam's idea according to Baier.
comment: In light of the information now emerging about Zarqawi and the article in Newsweek claiming that Iraqi forces had captured Zarqawi and released him, this was an interesting announcement especially on election day. Now that the insurgency can be blamed on Saddam Hussein the administration can have renewed justification for the war and the connection between Saddam and the terrorists can be strengthened. Baier hinted that the Pentagon had this information earlier so why did they wait to make this announcement until after the election. Now Zarqawi, poster boy of evil, will be dismissed and replaced just like Bin Laden. Saddam Hussein will once again become our national villian just in time for the State of the Union Speech.
