Reagan is OUT and F.D.R is IN

Reported by Deborah - January 22, 2005

Michael Barone told Tony Snow that Bush's speech was an "echo of FDR's third inaugural address" when he was responding to fascism claiming that Bush is connecting with the grand American political traditions. 1/22/05

Barone told Snow that Bush was setting up a framework and the mainstream media like the New York Times and Washington Post act as if the only important issues are the lack of WMDs and some reports of torture. Barone added that the mainstream media tried to defeat Bush in the election and are now like "little fish nibbling at his toes." FDR, Barone claimed, went through the same thing with the media which was Republican at that time.

comment: FDR is in and Reagan is out. What happened to all those references to Reagan fighting the "evil empire" and Bush fighting the "axis of evil?" Now, Bush is portrayed as the paternal visionary of American decency who cares about doing the right thing. Sorry but this comparison is absurd especially considering Bush's blatant disregard of middle class Americans and our economic realities not to mention his failure to address the health care issues. Democrats are about helping people and Bush is no Democrat.
