Do "O'Reilly" and "Investigates" Belong in the Same Sentence?
Reported by Melanie - January 7, 2005
This is a little thing but I couldn't resist posting about the promo Fox is running for tonight's (January 7, 2005) The O'Reilly Factor:
"Tonight at eight! The film critics adore [Michael] Moore. Are they right or is left wing Hollywood propping him up to push their political agenda? Bill investigates on The O'Reilly Factor." (My emphasis.)
COMMENT: Just about everything about this promo is absurd, of course, but I especially like Fox's use of the word "investigates." It seems to me that Bill O'Reilly's idea of an "investigation" is to ask himself what his opinion is about something and then to express it, whether it's fact or fiction.
