Oh noooooooo, Mr. Bill!
Reported by Chrish - January 3, 2005 -
The panel on today's (01/02) Fox News Sunday, (Bill Sammons, Ceci Connolly, Juan Williams, and Charles Krauthammer) made predictions for 2005 in the areas of entertainment, sports, and politics. Chills went down my spine when Bill Sammons made his political prediction:
"Jeb Bush, groomed to be the successor to his brother. The first sign of this is his being sent by president Bush to South Asia with Colin Powell to head up the relief efforts."
Wallace: "That's interesting." (not the first word that sprang to mind for me.)
"You think that was part of the plan?"
Sammons: "Well I think there was certainly a political consideration there, and also if you doubt this, remember he brings Florida to the table, one of the two most important states in the Electoral College. And he's a very likable guy, so look for the Bush dynasty to continue."
Comment: The words "dynasty" and "democracy" don't go so well together.
Per m-w.com, a democracy is 1 a : government by the people; especially : rule of the majority b : a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections....4 : the common people especially when constituting the source of political authority
5 : the absence of hereditary or arbitrary class distinctions or privileges
and a dynasty is 1 : a succession of rulers of the same line of descent
2 : a powerful group or family that maintains its position for a considerable time.
I see a real conflict, don't you?
I recall seeing a "Jeb 2008" poster being waved on FNC on election night 2004, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him "win" the primaries and the election just like his big brother. We are in a heap of trouble if something is not done about our elections and NOW, not in 2008.
