Donald Rumsfeld: God of Modern Warfare

Reported by Melanie - December 21, 2004

I think that those of us who work to keep ourselves well informed would agree that this is an exhausting time to be a news junkie. Everywhere I look, the news is bad. Sometimes I wish that the only news I got was from Fox News, because life would be so much easier! To put it bluntly, sometimes I wish I were dumb enough to believe everything I saw on Fox because my life would be simple, simple, simple and I would think America can do no wrong and all is right with the world.

Dan Senor, the former spokesperson for L. Paul Bremer during Bremer's tenure as administrator of the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq, was a guest today (December 21, 2004) on Your World w/Neil Cavuto. Terry Keenan was the substitute host and she and Senor discussed a range of issues having to do with the war on Iraq.

At the end of their discussion, Keenan asked Senor about Donald Rumsfeld and whether or not "he's become the whipping boy, the whipping boy here? Do you think it's anything more than that?"

Senor replied: "I think Terry we're just coming off a slow news week in Washington and when there's a slow news week people start to seize on non-events. Secretary Rumsfeld will stay put. He should stay put. It's under his watch that two of the most successful military campaigns, Afghanistan and Iraq, the most successful military campaigns in modern warfare, have been conducted."

Feel better now? All is well. Not to worry.
