Time To Take Back America From The Right

Fox decided to air Sean Hannity's rally for the right, Take Back America, tonight for the second time although there was another show advertised on the Fox News website earlier today.This decision, no doubt, had to do with Bill Moyers farewell show on PBS tonight in the same time slot. Moyers' final show exposed the right wing media fearlessly and Sean Hannity was a key figure in Moyers's indictment of the powerful conservative media machine influencing the public opinion and our elections.12/17/04
Moyers demonstrated beautifully how this well coordinated media machine influenced this election showing clips from Hannity's blatantly partisan interview with Bush right before the election.The Swift Boat plot and the distortion of the Bin Laden tape were attributed to Fox, Hannity, O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh.
Richard Viguerie, conservative journalist, was happy to admit to distortions and repetitive talking points claiming that "journalism is opinion" and the conservative media refuses to maintain the standards set down by liberal journalists in the past.Viguerie described the rise of the Swift Boat story saying that it started with a quickly published book that was immediatly posted on Drudge and then repeated over and over on cable news outlets. Clips of Brit Hume, O'Reilly and Hannity were shown spreading the word. Viguerie happily related that it was a huge story before the mainstream press had a chance to look into it.
This is only a small bit of the enlightening information provided in this show.All of us familiar with Robert Greenwald's Outfoxed, are quite familiar with all of this. The News Hounds experience it everyday as we monitor and post about this right wing attempt to control the minds and politics of this country.
Moyers reported that ABC has offered Hannity a 25 million contract which is a horrifying bit of news. Hannity delivers hate and distorts the core of the true Americans who believe that our freedoms are sacred. I have watched him night after night discredit the liberal values that made this country unique and respected.
Last week, Hannity and Brent Bozell were ridiculing Bill Moyers on air and thankfully, Danny Schecter, stood up forcefully in Moyer's defense. To think that second rate bullies like Sean Hannity have been given the power to shape this country's political future is unforgivable. It's time to shout out and take back our country from these media monsters.
