Is it Military TV, or Tabloid TV?

Reported by Melanie - December 13, 2004

At first I thought I might have the television turned to the wrong channel today (December 13, 2004) as I watched Dayside w/Linda Vester. I thought I might mistakenly be watching a military channel or a tabloid channel, I couldn't quite tell. Here's what the show consisted of:

1:00 p.m. ET David Piper in Baghdad on a Green Zone bombing which killed 13 Iraqis; on seven Marines killed near Fallujah and on the one-year anniversary of the capture of Saddam Hussein.

1:03 p.m. ET Bret Baier reporting on a group of reservists who were court martialed for scrounging armor for their vehicles.

1:05 p.m. ET Brian and Alma Hart, whose son, Pvt. 1st Class John Hart was killed in Iraq and who are now lobbying for more armor for vehicles.

1:13 p.m. ET Wendell Goler at the White House on Bernard Kerik's withdrawal from consideration as head of the Department of Homeland Security and the search for a new nominee.

1:20 p.m. ET Adam Housley in California on jury deliberations in the Scott Peterson case.

1:22 p.m. ET Andrew Napolitano, Fox's "Senior Judicial Analyst" on the Peterson case and what might be going on in the jury room.

1:30 p.m. ET FOX NEWS ALERT and back to Adam Housley in California on the Peterson jury deliberations.

1:3l p.m. ET Jonathan Serrie reporting on a new high tech virtual simulator being used to train soldiers who are heading to Iraq. The simulator replicates Iraqi street scenes and includes roadside and "homicide" bomb attacks.

1:33 p.m. ET Roger Friedman of FoxNews.com on fingerprints of Michael Jackson and his accuser being found on a porn magazine.

1:38 p.m. ET FOX NEWS ALERT and back to Adam Housley in California on the Peterson jury.

1:4l p.m. ET FOX NEWS ALERT with Adam Housley in California and Andrew Napolitano in the studio on the Peterson jury.

1:5l p.m. ET The fourth installment of "The 12 Days of Christmas" series. Today, a poster and two calendars were highlighted, partial proceeds from the sales of which go to soldiers and/or military families or organizations which help them.

1:57 p.m. ET Live shot of the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy arriving at Mayport Naval Station near Jacksonville, Florida.

1:58 p.m. ET "Stupid Criminals." A regular segment during which Vester highlights a crook who did something stupid.

COMMENT: Wow. I'm pumped now. I got a good dose of militarism, lots of talk about killing and death and some about sex too. I'm ready to face the day and go out and hang another American flag off my porch.
