Fox News and the RNC v the AARP

Reported by Melanie - December 11, 2004

My colleague Marie Therese posted this on Wednesday, December 9: Bill O'Reilly Lashes Out at the AARP.

Query: Could bashing (and intimidating) the AARP (into submission) be a new RNC (and Fox News) project? I wonder.

On Saturday (December 11, 2004), David Asman opened his show, Forbes on Fox, with this teaser about the AARP's opposition to Bush's plan to "reform" Social Security:

"Selfish grandparents are putting your retirement at risk! That's right! Some seniors actually standing in the way of Social Security reform! Find out how that can be stopped when we go in focus."

COMMENT: During the discussion which followed, one participant asked whether the RNC is now so powerful that it can take on the traditionally very influential AARP. Sure looks like it to me.
