War Talk, a Turn On?
Reported by Deborah - December 5, 2004
As I woke this morning I could hear my father talking about how he was born to be a soldier, how much it excites him to watch war movies and documentaries on the soldier’s experience. What is it about the act of war that excites men so much? Rita Cosby seems to know. The Big Story with Rita Cosby. 12/4/04 9 PM
In her sultry voice, she asked military analyst Aaron Cohen what kind of weapons the soldiers were using in a video she played showing soldiers propelling a rocket into a house they were trying to occupy. Mr. Cohen launched into a detailed explanation of the weaponry they used, throwing out words like M4-flat top, night capability and foxy. It was much like a young guy showing off his hot rod to his friends and bragging about the duel overhead cam and the 32 valve engine. Was Rita Cosby’s show trying to make war a turn on?
Rather than talking about the dangers involved with such a mission or the cost to civilians, she was highlighting the exciting weaponry they were using.
