Voter Fraud, Here and There
Reported by Melanie - November 29, 2004
Dana Lewis reported from Kiev, Ukraine today (November 29, 2004) on Dayside w/Linda Vester. Lewis reported on the "tens of thousands" of people who've been demonstrating "night after night for eight days" there. He said the demonstrations moved to the Supreme Court today "where members of the opposition argue there has been widespread voter fraud." He said Ukrainian television is airing video showing voters being beaten up and that he himself has "seen actual absentee ballots which indicated voters voted ten and twelve times."
Lewis said a court decision on the voter fraud issue could be handed down tomorrow but there is no "definite sense" there will be a call for a new election. He said, "A lot of the roads lead to President Kuchma" who said today that if this crisis continues, Ukraine could experience a financial collapse. Lewis said there is hope the demonstrations will remain peaceful until the matter is settled.
COMMENT: I imagine the same reporter standing on the lawn in front of the statehouse in Ohio saying exactly the same thing about voter fraud in our recent election. Sadly, news about voting "irregularities" in this country has vanished from our mainstream media.
