Another FOX segment criticizing Rumsfeld

Reported by Ellen - November 29, 2004

I'm sensing a pattern here. Saturday night, Republican Senator Chuck Hagel called Iraq "a mess," and criticized the "civilians at the Pentagon" for not listening to the commanders on the ground. Tonight, O'Reilly had two former Reagan officials to discuss Rummy's job in Iraq, so the criticism from one carried double weight with me.

One of the guests was Richard Perle, a strong proponent of the invasion, who defended Rumsfeld by blaming the CIA and the State Department for the blunders. Bill O'Reilly seemed to disagree, saying that Rumsfeld was the architect of the lightning strike and not having a lot of people on the ground.

Perle countered by saying that the conduct of the war was "brilliant" and that it will go down "as one of the great campaigns ever." (Nevermind the tons of missing ammo that disappeared, the unguarded pipelines, the looted museums.)

Comment: In my last post on Rumsfeld, I predicted that the criticism of him on FOX signalled that he would leave the Bush Administration soon, something that has been rumored. Rumsfeld is due to appear on O'Reilly later this week. Stay tuned.
