Special Election Validation Edition

Reported by Deborah - November 26, 2004

Hannity & Colmes tonight was a Special Edition for the holiday weekend composed of old and new segments. The intended message was crystal clear. George Bush really won the election; Bush is an extraordinary person; and Democrats are ungracious losers. 11/26/04 9PM ET

Segment 1
Rudy Guiliani and Hannity gloated over George Bush's big win. Guiliani said that while in Europe recently, he told critics of Bush that they should try to understand all the states between New York and California which reflect the true values of the American people. Hannity once again brought up how Bush reached out to Kennedy and he turned on him. Guiliani was quick to commiserate with Hannity both acting certain that Bush would again reach out.
comment: Bush and Kennedy sponsored a bill together and then Bush withdrew all funding. Wonder why Kennedy was angry? Also that's the only instance that Hannity can use because there were no others.

Segment2
This partial rerun of Phil Donahue's interview showed the part where he talks about being cancelled at MSNBC because he was anti war. Hannity's rave about Iraqi liberation and torture and rape rooms were a large part of the clip as well as Hannity's visit to Donahue in 1984 where is was judging pregnant teens for lacking responsibility. commentWe got to see Donahue as a defeated liberal. When Donahue started to speak out about what liberal values, Hannity shot him down so viewers should know who's on top right now.

Segment 3
Pre election interview with Dick Cheney where they discuss John Kerry's brutal treatment of Cheney's daughter.

Segment 4
Cornell West made some good points about how well Christian and Liberal principles work together. Hannity called Democrats morally bankrupt and uncaring about human suffering. When West mentioned Willie Horton, Hannity was quick to pin it on Al Gore.

Segment 5
Brian Kilemeade plugged his book about sports and praised Bush to the sky about his love of baseball and his graciousness during the interview. Hannity said about himself, " When I pitched if I didn't like the batter, I'd aim for his head." (no surprises with that confession)

Comment: The election is certainly not over for Hannity who remains very defensive and combative. Part of that is his inability to give up attacking any enemy. He's like the pentagon after the cold war was over but there's something else going on here. His constant reference to Iraqi liberation and non stop campaigning for Bush indicate his awareness of the intense anger and resentment in this country since the election. For someone who brags about the overwhelming win of his party, he seems pretty up tight.
