It's Not Just FOX
Reported by Ellen - November 20, 2004 -
Due to a computer catastrophe, I missed nearly all of Alan Colmes' radio program last night. But after "Kelley" in New Delhi or maybe Bombay finally determined there was nothing more to be done for my poor hard drive, I heard a newscast at the top of the hour on the USA Radio network. Reporting on Senator Tom Daschle's farewell speech in the US Senate, the announcer said that Daschle's election defeat had come after he had "developed a pattern of obstructionism" in the Senate.
Pattern of obstructionism? What kind of comment is that for a supposedly neutral newscaster to make? Remember, this was a brief report of the headlines, not a news analysis or commentary program. Note to Mr. Newscaster, whoever you are: What you call obstructionism, MANY OTHERS (about half the country, judging from national election results) would call a wise, prudent effort to avoid the radical, right-wing agenda being ramrodded through Congress by the Bush Administration and its minions.
Note to readers: I am writing this entry at my local library. I'll try to keep up with the blog as best I can until my new hard drive is installed. Please forgive me if I get behind on answering emails.
