FOX News Marginalizing the Democrats

Reported by Ellen - November 17, 2004 -

The headline on FOXNews.com's video about new Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, "Senate Minority" says, "Leading the Smallest Democratic Senate Caucus SInce Before the Great Depression." You can almost hear them salivating over at FNC headquarters, dreaming of the day when the USA will be a one-party country run by all Republicans all the time.

FOX reporter Major Garrett started off his report about Reid with a characteristic dig at the Democrats by calling them "shell-shocked." What caused him to use that label? He didn't say. But the picture Garrett portrays of Senate Democrats is not shell-shocked. First, he shows John Kerry vowing to continue fighting in the senate for the same issues he fought for during his campaign, then Reid saying he'd rather dance than fight but he knows how to fight.

Garrett threw in a few more bashes before the report was finished:

"One lingering issue: Is Reid in charge or will John Kerry compete? He plans to carve out a prominent role."

Reid replaced Tom Daschle, "a symbol of Democratic obstructionism that cost his job and led to losses in the Senate. Reid may be forced into more compromises than Daschle."

Just in case you think it's only Garrett with this kind of mindset, there's another video report about Reid by William La Jeunesse in which he imparts that Reid is "a liberal spender" and "crafty... but some people refer to him as vindictive."
