God weighs in?

On the Grapevine segment Friday 10/29, Brian Wilson reported that Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) told an Iowa rally that "Kerry has been surging in recent polls because 'that's how God wants it to be', " with an insert photo of Harkin captioned "God weighs in?"
Why this innocuos remark to about 25 people in a room in Iowa made it to international cable eludes me.
I have never seen any fuss made over Bush's overt and pious religiosity, nor any investigation into the mental state of a man who believes God has chosen him to lead this country at this time.
Everyone knows it was the Supreme Court!
Comment: Yes, it was a Grapevine gossipy item...but Fox got it on the air. This will incense some people and further divide Americans against one another.
