Dayside w/Linda Vester's Election Theme

Reported by Melanie - November 1, 2004 -

Dayside w/Linda Vester was surprisingly low key today, November 1, 2004, this day before the election. One thing they did manage to do though was to continue the theme of linking John Kerry with the "liberal Hollywood elite," which they'd hammered home all last week.

Today it was left up to Fox reporter Steve Brown (instead of Linda Vester). While reporting on Kerry's campaign plans for the day, Brown pointed out that Jon Bon Jovi will be at a Kerry rally in Wisconsin, Stevie Wonder will sing at a Kerry rally in Detroit, and Bruce Springsteen will appear, "yet again," with Kerry in Cleveland tonight.

COMMENT: Fox News has been eager to highlight singers and actors ("the liberal Hollywood elite") who support and campaign for John Kerry. Fox asserts that voters don't like candidates who surround themselves with "out of touch" celebrities who live "in a bubble" and don't know what the average American thinks for feels. So, they repeatedly name and show video of celebrities who endorse or appear on behalf of Kerry. Celebrities who support Bush almost always make in-studio appearances so they can be humanized and made into "average Americans" who do know how voters think.
