Fox News Floats Idea bin Laden Endorses Kerry

Reported by Melanie - October 29, 2004 -

In a discussion with former Dole campaign adviser David Johnson and Hannity and Colmes co-host Alan Colmes at 4:13 p.m. ET today (October 29, 2004) on Your World w/Neil Cavuto, before the new Osama bin Laden tape was even transcribed, the suggestion that bin Laden endorsed John Kerry was already floating out of Fox News.

Early in the discussion Johnson said, "This almost looks like an endorsement by Osama bin Laden for John Kerry."

Minutes later, speaking to Alan Colmes, Cavuto said "People might look at this and say, hey, this knucklehead's still out there, he's still a threat, but if he's doing this to get the American people against Bush, that's..." Colmes interrupted: "I don't think he's there in his cave, with a Kerry/Edwards sticker in the cave. I don't think that's what's happening..." Cavuto interrupted Colmes: "Well, he's all but doing that isn't he?"

And later, addressing Johnson, Cavuto asked: "This isn't a Kerry endorsement tape?" Johnson replied, "No it isn't yet, not unless he pops up with that Kerry/Edwards sticker. Then we could say it's an endorsement."
