The Almost Kerry Interviews
Reported by Marie Therese - October 27, 2004 -
Bill O'Reilly, in a huff because Kerry won't come on his show, has scheduled a set of "almost Kerry" interviews this week. He's invited Democratic surrogates to answer the "fair and balanced" questions he had planned to ask Senator Kerry. To our readers who are interested in these interviews, I am transcribing them as they occur (Some of the official transcripts are not posted on O'Reilly's FOX News site as were those of the President). In an effort to do a complete analysis, I am comparing and contrasting the 15 questions and responses in the Bush interview with the "almost Kerry" Q & A. The results, I think, will be worth waiting for. Here's a little teaser:
First question asked of President Bush:
O'Reilly: Yeah. We're gonna have a visit here. I've got fifteen questions for you. If they're dumb, tell me they're dumb, cause the audience will like that. [The President laughs.] If they're dumb [say] "Look, O'Reilly, that's just dumb". The first one is: According to a poll taken by the Coalition Authority last spring only 5% of the Iraqis see the United States as liberators. Are you surprised they don't appreciate the American sacrifice more?
First question asked of Kerry's surrogates:
O'Reilly: "..If you don't know the answer, just say you don't know. Don't try to bloviate or spin. I'll catch ya' and whack ya'! According to the European Journal of International Law, 5,000 Kuwaiti women were raped after Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait in 91. You, Senator Kerry, voted against removing Saddam's forces. Why did you do that? And would you change your vote now that you know 5,000 women were raped?"
Stay tuned. More to come.
