The Politics of Self Righteousness

Reported by Deborah - October 22, 2004 -

Ed Gillespie appeared on Hannity&Colmes tonight to talk about the negative tone of this campaign but what they really discussed was John Kerry and ,yes, their tone was definitely negative. 10/21/04

Hannity and Gillespie were two pillars of Republican respectability and human decency, as they talked about the mean comment about Laura Bush made by THKerry. How could she say that she didn't know if Laura had a real job? What about all the stay at home Moms that she insulted?

Hannity full of wonder, called Laura Bush "classy" mentioning, of course his interview with her. Gillespie confided that his wife is a stay at home Mom although she is volunteering for the Bush Campaign. Gillespie, piously Republican, mentioned that they sacrificed a second income because it was so important.(Gee, must be nice Ed to be able to sacrifice an income)

Then, with their partisan blinders erected, they went after Kerry ridiculing him in his hunting outfit. Gillespie declared that Kerry has been "camoflaging " his record all along. Then Hannity declared Kerry and the Democrats liars three times. (Now who's the negative one?)

Colmes, who has been doing an admirable job in this frantic time, presented a well edited little clip showing Bush and Cheney being particularly nasty. Gillespie, after a split second of concern, just went back to not caring about anything but winning.

comment:Having Ed Gillespie with Hannity, ripping apart Senator Kerry with Colmes only permited set times for rebuttal, is totally unfair.By the time Colmes arrived with his video response, the word was out and damage done.
