T. Boone Pickens: Why Doesn't Fox Treat Him The Way They Treat George Soros?
Reported by Melanie - October 21, 2004 -
Boone Pickens (also known as T. Boone Pickens) was a guest today (October 21, 2004) on Your World w/Neil Cavuto. Cavuto and Pickens talked about the price of gasoline, oil, and heating oil, and about future supplies and possible future price increases. At the end of the interview Cavuto asked Pickens what he thought of the Presidential election. Pickens said he thought Bush would win.
Unfortunately, viewers weren't told that Pickens is anything but impartial and, in fact, could be called a GOP version of George Soros. Soros is someone Fox loves to hate. They regularly criticize Soros for using his money to help the Democratic party and for working to elect Kerry. When speaking of Soros, Fox often implies that Democrats have an advantage over Republicans because of Soros' wealth. Yet, T. Boone Pickens is doing precisely the same thing. According to this Washington Post article, Pickens has personally donated $1 million to the Swift Boat Veterans. Additionally, according to OpenSecrets.org, he's given tens of thousands of dollars to Republicans across the country and to national Republican organizations. But, again, viewers heard none of that. They thought there were seeing a good ol' boy from Texas who just happened to think Bush would win.
