Hannity Goes Down in History

Reported by Deborah - October 20, 2004 -

If anyone actually held Sean Hannity and Fox accountable, this night would go down in broadcasting history as one of the industry's most disturbing displays of partisan and unprofessional behavior on a news show. It all began with Hannity's exclusive interview with Dick Cheney and things just escalated from there. 10/20/04 9PM

Hannity's exclusive interview with Dick Cheney held no surprises for viewers. It was a blatant Republican campaign tool with Hannity feeding Cheney the right questions which really did not require answers.

"What do you think when you hear Al Gore screaming that you have betrayed our country; Ted Kennedy, who you reached out to; Howard Dean advancing the theory that the President knew about 9/11; Dennis Jucinich saying you're targeting civilians for assassination.?"

So Cheney and Hannity managed to bash Kerry on every RNC talking point and still have adequate time for a close look at how close we are to being annhilated by terrorists, unless we vote for Bush. Only that vote for Bush can keep the terrorists away .

Mary Landrieu,D. Louisiana came on afterwards to supposedly give the opposing viewpoint. Hannity immediatly threw a poll at her saying that 62% think that Kerry's remark about Mary Cheney was bad, Landrieu was ready for him and said the interview was really an infomercial and that just set him off. Here are some of his nasty comments countering her excellent criticisms.

"You are a lousy Senator."
"If you don't like it, I don't care, If you're going to do that,it's a cheap shot."
"You're not the Vice President and I doubt you ever will be."

When Colmes came in for his part finally allowing Landrieu to speak, Hannity couldn't control his anger and broke in to argue.

Comment: Hannity knew his exclusive interview was over the top but when Landreiu called him on it, he acted like a spoiled brat attacking blindly. Once again, he behaved just like Bush when criticized. After having 30 minutes of free campaigning, Hannity should have allowed the opposing voice to have her 5 minutes of air time.

Fox should not pretend that Hannity&Colmes is a balanced debate show if they permit this kind of unprofessional behavior from their broadcasters. The remaining segments of the show were given to Newt Gingrich and Ralph Nader which just shows that the entire show was a planned campaign rally.
